Saskya Sky has been officially titled the Goodwill Ambassador for the Miami PAL (Police Athletic League). Saskya always wanted to mentor & empower underprivileged & bullied children by inspiring them through musical entertainment. “If I can help children believe in themselves and know that they are talented and special, I will be accomplishing my goal one child at a time”.
As a proud Haitian, Saskya has a mission to utilize her talents and celebrity status to educate to help elevate image of the Haitian community. During May’s Haitian Heritage month, in an effort to show her devoted support, Saskya seized every opportunity to help raise awareness in celebrating the richness of the Haitian culture as she performed her rendition of “La Dessalinienne” (the Haitian National Anthem) and her original song titled “My Haiti”. The various community and cultural festivals were as follows: 5/11 Taste of Haiti – Miami, 5/15 Opened for Emeline Michel at Moca Café – Miami | 5/16 Touching Miami with Love, Miami Police Athletic League (PAL) Ribbon Cutting Ceremony | 5/18 Haitian Flag Day Ceremony, Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti – Miami | 5/19 Haitian Heritage Event Little Haiti – Miami | 5/22 Haitian-American Cultural Panorama – Pompano Beach, FL | 5/28 Miami Police Department Community Relations, Haitian Heritage Celebration | 5/30 Commissioner Jean Monestime, closing ceremony for Haitian Heritage Month – Miami.
In 2010 Saskya won 1st place in the BlackPlanet.com’s online ONE MINUTE TO SHINE contest. Without any hesitation Saskya donated 100% of her winnings to her family in Haiti which was ravaged by the massive earthquake.
